Elizabeth Lucille Nesom Curley, 89, died Friday, December 21, 2007. She was a native of St. Paul, Minnesota and lived in Savannah for the past seven years. She graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. in 1941. Two years after college graduation she moved to New York selling tickets for the Long Island Railroad during World War II. She was married in 1944 to Alexander Curley of Staten Island, New York who preceded her in death. In 1946 until 1952 she worked as a business administrator to set up the Donnell Branch of the New York Public Library, a position that enabled her to use her college background in architectural studies. After her time with the library in 1952 she joined RCA International in Westfield as a special librarian. Mrs. Curley became a girl scout in St. Paul, Minn. earning the highest Girl Scout award, the Golden Eaglet and was very involved in the Monmouth Council of the Girl Scouts of America serving in various positions and retiring in1983 as the Executive Director after 26 years of service. The Council Service Center was renamed in her honor. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Methodist Women’s Organization. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Nesom, of Chicago, Illinois.

Surviving are two sons, James Curley, of Jupiter, Florida and Robert Curley, of Savannah, two grandchildren, Vinnie and Molly Curley, both of Savannah.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 201 Television Circle, Savannah, GA 31406.
